Electric 1:5 speed increasing attachments operate at a consistent 200,000 rpm no matter what load is placed on the bur.  A high speed air turbine, by contrast, cuts air at 350,000 to 400,000 rpm, but drops down to an inconsistent 180,000 rpm depending upon the load.

 

There are two (2) bearings in the electric handpiece head that can be replaced similar to a high-speed air turbine, but unlike the air-driven high speed handpiece, the power in an electric handpiece is transferred to the head by a series of gears. Worn bearings cause friction and the accumulation of heat. Once your attachment starts to heat up, you need to send it in for service IMMEDIATELY. Continued use could result in patient injury and greater damage to the gears and drive train components resulting in a more costly repair.

 

Your electric handpiece is repaired and tested to meet the manufacturers specifications.
